According to my cousin (so I haven't verified the sources) my Samuel Wise had a brother Harvey who was born about 1836 in Penn. He married Elmira who was born about 1837 in VA or Ohio. THere is also a picture in the family bible of Ida Wise, d/o Samuel, with her cousins Cizzy and Callie SMITH. Don't know who's children they are. They may be from Ida's mother's side (Eliza Ann Hartzler), so may not have a Wise connection at all. But in case they do.... Does this have a connection with anybody? Trudy

Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland. First known ancestors were Philip Wise (b. 1766-1774, d. 1823) and his wife, Barbara (Becker) Wise. They had many children. Also interested in Valentine Wise and his descendants since he lived in the same area and is believed to be related. Doug , Thanks for the information. I don't know..none of the names mean anything to me as she is not related to me at all. She must have finished school (whatever grade would have been appropriate in 1853 for a young woman of means. It could be that a desc. of hers brought the book down here as a cherished family heirloom and it was inadvertantly packed away. I know an old woman died in the house before it was put up for rental property. Being 15 at the time, those things didn't register with me and now the house has been torn down years ago to make way for office buildings... Thanks anyway. Sherry

I would try two things first: Try to get the obituaries, they will tell you a lot of information. Also, if you can go to the town hall to look up the death information, it will tell you age at death and that will give you approximate dob. and location, parents names, etc. If not, try to request one by mail.
