I`m looking for the family of WISE. My great grand father Levi WISE. May have lived in Idaho. And my great great grand father WISE may have lived in virginia or west virginia. Virginia name was Nimrod Wise. I`m not possitive if any of this is true . but it`s all I have to go on. My grand father That died here in about 1951 was named Elmer John WISE . David - Can you give me some dates to work with - especially those for David S. Wise and John? Also, "upstate" -- which state? I think it's wonderful that you're doing this! I also have a family line which includes WISE and SPEARS and there are also RICHARDSONS in the area of north Louisiana (Claiborne Parish - USA) where this bunch settled. We have not been able to positively identify the father of our James WISE m. Parmelia MILLER who came from Mississippi to Claiborne Parish abt 1830. They probably married in SC since that's where she was from. But I have lots of information from 1830 on and some on other ancestors in our line including LAMBRIGHT(LAMBRECHT). Hi, Rooters- This in desperation-Does anyone out there know of a John WISE who married a woman named Hannah. These people lived and died on a tract of land called Wiseland which is in the shadow of a unique mountain called Peaked Mountain. This is located at a little town called Keezletown near Harrisonburg, Va. in Rockingham County. John's birth date is circa 1767 and he died, I believe in 1847. I would dearly love to find his parents names and dates of birth, marriage and death. Also siblings and his wife's maiden name. I know I'm not asking for much but there it is. The oldest ancestor that I can verify is Leonard Weese (or various spelling differences) who appeared in Gallia County Ohio before 1810. I suspect that he came from the present day area of north-eastern West Virginia and perhaps from Pennsylvania before that. However, I have no documented proof of his origin or his parents. All of his descendants lived in Gallia County and later Jackson County Ohio, except one child who apparently ended up next door in Pike County Ohio.
