Kay, your Morgan is in my book. He first married Donah McKnight and the he married Ella Collins. I have learned after my book was published, that Jeannie Maddox Freeman my art teacher is a descendent of Morgan and Ella was her parents. This would evidently mean that you are related to my art teacher more than I am. I will have to tell Jeannie about you. It is a small world.

Mitchell, Sorry for the slow response, I had some computer problems. I know next to nothing about my George Wise other than he was "reportedly" from Indiana. He married there, to Mary Ragen and had a son there, he being Casper George Wise. At some point later the family moved to Wapello co. Iowa, and if I remember correctly, my mother mentioned the Ottumwa area. As far as I know George Sr. died in Wapello co. date unknown. Casper married Olive Knight in Oskaloosa, Mahaska co. Iowa and they raised their family and died there. I really can't make a connection to your George Wise....Harvey "Mitchell L. Mary Agnes, I saw your dialogue about your Wise family and wonder if I fit in. I'm from Slocomb. My great grandmother was Bessie Lee Wise, born Feb 14, 1892 in Victoria Al, died Nov. 23, 1914, buried in Slocomb. Her parents were Morgan and Donnie Ellen Wise. Donnie Ellen (?) was born Sept. 7, 1872 and died March 4, 1941. She is buried with her daughter Bessie Lee in Slocomb. I know nothing else about Morgan. I ran a deed search on the computer and found a William M. Wise in Coffee County and am wondering if the M. might stand for Morgan. I have been told that Morgan left his wife Donnie Ellen and remarried sometime later. I also looked at the SSDI but that didn't give me any hints either. There were too many Morgans there. Do you know anything about my Morgan Wise? Is he and Donnie Ellen in your book? Kay

George, My Wise ancestors were in N.C. This was James and Joseph Wise. Joseph had at least one son Herren, who was born in N.C. Joseph was born circa 1770. He came with his family to the area of Wilkes and Wilkerson Counties in Georgia. Joseph moved with his family to what is today Coffee County, Alabama circa 1823. At the time of the early days of their living in Alabama, ithe area was known as Houston County and then Dale County. I have written and published a 350 page book recently about the descendants of Joseph Wise and his four sons :Daniel, Herren, McKinney and Levy Wise. Many of these decendants still live in Coffee County, but others live in Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Michigan and other states.I would like to learn more information about the ancestors of Joseph Wise who was born circa 1770 and died after 1830 in Alabama.. I have no idea when this family came to America. I would be so grateful for any information about this family. Mary Agnes Wise

Something else on this Iowa connection of mine-- I did have Wises move to Vincennes Indiana in the 1870's-- is Vincennes Ind. close to your Indiana info? My George Wise was in Wapello County, Iowa in 1870. there is some connection with a coal dealer/farmer named Dotts- who had a farm near Eddyville. Did Casper's father, George die in Iowa? Ever heard of the Dotts family? Do you have access to the Iowa census in 1870? there also may be a connection with a Kendall family. This also could be a totally unrelated George. For more information on my Iowa connection go to my website at--http://web.tusco.net/wisenct/IowaCon.htm Tomlin wrote: > Yes, another George Wise, this one beleived to have been born in Indiana > about 1840.
