    3. I have not been able to find a Barney Wise in the Wise book. There is a Burney Stanton Wise b 1855 Porter Co IN, married Melissa A McAlister 1891, no place of marriage or death is given, This Burney died 1922. He is listed in the index as both Burney and Barney but in the text is says Burney. There is also a Lewis J Wise who was having children starting in 1849, he was born and died in Ohio, had a child Homer b 1879 who died at the age of 20 in Ohio. So the names were associated with that family but I cannot find a connection with them to yours. 3. Hi. This is the first time that I have posted anything on this mailing list. I am interested in any information about my family tree. The only information that I have at this time starts with my great-great grandparents, George and Gevevieve (Gennie) Conklin. They had a daughter, Margaret Conklin-Wise (my great grandmother, born 03-12-1908) who married Lorraine Wise (born and 03-13-1906). They had 5 children: Doris Mae Wise (born 03-11-1928), Genevieve Magdelena Wise (my grandmother, born 01-16-0930, deceased 02-22-1999), Phyllis Ann Wise (born 08-08-1932), John George Wise (born 10-06-1935, died in infancy), and Anna Marie Wise (born 12-23-1938). My grandmother had 10 children; my father being the eldest. His name is Dennis Lee Wise (born 12-31-1947). He was born out of wedlock. My name is Angel Marie Wise (born 03-07-1971). I have a son, Dakota Lee Wise (born 07-06-1990). I hope that I am able to help anyone looking for information. If anyone can give me more information, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    3. Greetings Researchers, This is my first message to the WISE List. For a long time, I have had Mercy WISE b. 21 MAY 1685, Essex, MA, d.7 FEB 1771, m. 31 DEC 1707, at Middletown, CT. to Israel BARNES. I believe she is the dau of Henry WISE, but there are several Henrys, and I'm not sure which one would be her father. Would he be Henry, b. 1654, m. Mary MANSFIELD? I don't know anything about them, other than their names. If he is the right Henry, then is he the son of Joseph and Mary (THOMPSON) WISE? Joseph d. 12 SEP 1684 at Roxbury, MA, and I am again not sure, but believe Mary may be the dau. of Rev. Wm. THOMPSON, who is also an ancestor of mine. I would very much like to get this line straightened out, and hope some others on this List are descended from the same line, and have proof of their data. Please share, if you know anything about these folks. Thanks much, Betty Sullivan

    3. Faith, Sorry but I really do not know any more. I will keep my eyes open though. It seems to me I have had other queries on this line. When and if I get a chance (and if I can find their addresses) I will send you those as a reference in case they are still online. But I must tell you, I am getting out the newsletter and building a house at the same time. And when I say building I do not mean I am supervising contractors, it's me and my husband! Ruth

    3. Thanks, rhoese. My, Wyse grandfather was Lawson Wyse b. 1887 Dundee, Scotland to Henry Wyse born 1839 and d. 1910, Lawson's mother was Helen Callander b.1840 and d. 1921. I am thinking this Charles Wyse that you speak of might have been an uncle or relative of Henry's. Any thoughts on the matter? Thank you for sharing the info with me on Charles Wyse. 3. >From Words to the Wise Dec 1994 MORE SUMMER ROAMINGS... This time in the cemetery There was no staying at home for me this summer. Two weeks after returning from the OK, Kansas, Colo, New Mexico and Texas trip my husband and I left for a trip across the South and up the East Coast to Halifax, Nova Scotia. This was not a genealogy trip, but I am interested in cemeteries, so.. while visiting my brother in Richmond we toured the Hollywood Cemetery where the bodies of Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler, 6 Virginia Governors, and Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America, are buried. One of the Virgina governors is Henry A. Wise of Accomack County, Virginia. I understand this is not one of our Wise',s but if any of you are researching this line you may want to know about this cemetery. There are in addition to Henry A. Wise (b Dec 3, 1806, d Sept 12, 1876) in this cemetery are buried: wife of Henry A., Ann Elizabeth Wise, daughter of O. Jennings, D. D. b 1808, d 1857; Capt. George Douglas Wise (b 1831 d 1864), son of John & Harriet Wise; D. Jennings Wise 1831-1862; Rev. Henry Wise 31-1869 and wife Harriet 44-1893, with three children ages 10 months, 16 months, and 10 months. There is a large confederate monument here and many, many confederate and union dead, some known, some unknown. It is a very moving cemetery, high on the bluffs of the beautiful James River. Life is sacred, no matter what side the soldier fought on and it is a great memorial to their memories.
