Hi, I have a marriage certificate that lists the following: License # ______ Date__ Nov 24, 1902 Time when marriage was "contracted"___Dec. 4, 1902 Then at the bottom, the clergyman signed it with a date of fourth day of December, AD 1902 stating it was a true return of the facts, which might indicate that this was afterwards, and could be a recorded date. My question is this. Which is the marriage date? Is the earlier date in Nov. when the License was applied for, and the later date being the actual marriage date? I am basing this on the premise that since there is a question of TIME, I am assuming that this would be the Time that the marriage was performed "contracted?" . Otherwise, what is this question of Time for? Following this, the question of place, county, etc the marriage was "contracted", leaving little doubt in my mind that the term "contracted" is herein used in the same manner as 'solemnized', but I would like to get this confirmed from someone please? Thank you, Murray in AZ
