I could use some help from all you Sauk County historians. I have in my possession a ribbon that my grandfather had in his childhood treasure chest. The front side of the ribbon is red with the following: UNITED COLONY NO. 553 B.R.F.F. LAVALLE, WIS. The backside of the ribbon is black with the following: IN MEMORIAM UNITED COLONY NO. 553 B.R.F.F. LAVALLE, WIS. Hanging below the ribbon is a medal with the B.R.F.F. lettering and a beaver on a log, followed with "JUSTITIA NON EST NEGANDA". Does anyone have an idea as to what this medal may represent? Thanks, Fawn
