David moved there from Grasshopper Falls, (now Valley Falls) Jefferson co, Kansas after a locust infestation wiped out the Young family farms. Originally the Youngs came to WI from upstate NY. Jonathan Maxon Young had seven sons and one daughter. He and his wife, Mary E Armstrong Young moved to Janesvill and vicinity about 1842. Several children were born in WI. Some of the Youngs moved to Dodge co, MN about 1859. Moving to MN with Jonathan and family were several sons and his daughter and also his father in law, Samuel Armstrong, b. NY about 1786. Matilda had previously been in Missouri/Kansas. She apparently left for MN about 1863.
