I was able to find some Sauk county folks in my line in "Wisconsin 1860 Federal Census Index" in our genealogy society library. Haven't gotten the actual census records yet, but at least I know they exist. If you live in Wisconsin...you undoubtedly know that the entire 1860 census is available on microfilm in the State Historical Society of Wis. library in Madison. I just got back from a trip there...that facility is truly awesome! Otherwise, I'm sure you can order the census rolls you need through your local library's inter-library loan.
