I want to thank you all for all of the VERY positive responses. Many of the mail list administrators have stated it is all right to continue to post the reminders I am choosing not too. I did not solely join the county mail lists to place a weekly reminder on them. I felt I could contribute to others research not only by having a gathering place (weekly chat), but I have also answered many questions for many different researchers on the various county mail lists. I was hoping to help others. Should anyone need information on the Wisconsin Genealogy weekly chat-I have this information posted on the Waupaca County Website at the following address http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaupac/index.htm. I will will continue to post chat reminders on the Waupaca County mail list, WauShaOcon Mail List and Wisconsin Mail List. Hope you all break through those brick walls and find those lost ancestors-have a great week! I guess I didn't feel once a week email would unset anyone and that it would let the new people to the lists know of the weekly genealogy chat. So this will be the last notice of the weekly chats. I have repeated the instructions below and feel if anyone is interested in the weekly chat can print this out and refer to it for information. Hope to see you there Sunday night and happy hunting! Here are step by step instructions- 1-Go to the site http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2-Click on Log on to chat in the upper left area of the screen. This takes you to another screen. 3-At this screen type in your name or a name you are going to use in the chat room in the space next to Nick name. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SPACES. Once you have typed in your name, click on OK, connect in the lower left. 4-You are in the chat room. Type your message in the lower left space where it says Type here and then hit enter. A few helpful hints. There is a list on the right side of the screen of all the people who are in the room. To enlarge the screen for easier reading click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the font, also for easier reading, in the space where you type your message type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the font size. It's nice to be informed that there is a weekly Wisconsin genealogy chat available, but is it really necessary to make that announcement on every single Wisconsin county mail list every single week? Because I'm new and have only signed up for one county, I am very glad the announcement is made so regularly.
It's that time of week again! Just emailing a short reminder about the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat held Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. EST (Adjust for your own time zone) Stop by and see if you can connect with a lost cousin http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm Hope to see you there! Just a friendly weekly reminder of the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST (Adjust for your time zone) http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm We have been having a great group, so stop in and see if you can connect with someone else researching one of your lines. For those of you who may not be able to make it, transcriptions of the Sunday night chats are now online at http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/blrecords.htm So if you can't make the chat stop by and read the transcriptions. Have a great week! Paula _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
Thanks for your help. I don't know where these people fit in with my Priests, but I will keep their names in my notes. I really appreciate your efforts. May someone do the same for you. Hi Joy, WOW, how would a person get a copy of the Reedsburg Cemetery book? I am from Reedsburg and am sure I have plenty of relatives that I would want to look for. Mostly Cady and Crakers, but am trying to find out my great grandfather's fathers name. It is a tough surname JONES. My great grandfather was PULVER W. JONES. Not only would I like to find Pulver's fathers name but I am trying to find out who his wife was and all his children. CARRIE JONES was one child and maybe a LEON and I think a NETTIE? I noticed they have a picture of a Purl Jones in the Reedsburg Library but have not been able to get down there to see it and get a copy. Go to the Sauk County website and it will give you all the info you will need to contact them about the cemetery books. Joy
Dick & Marliyn, The Sauk County Historical Society has copies of most of the cemetery book in Sauk County. Check out their website and it has a list of publications for sale. I think that the cemetery books are about $7.00. Contact Kathy at the Historical Society she will be able to help you. She also does research.
The Sauk Co. Cemetery Books [11, I think] are available for purchase [the ones that aren't out of print] from the Sauk Co. Historical Museum or to borrow from the Sauk Co. Libraries.
It is Sauk County Historical Society 531 Fourth Avenue Post Office Box 651 Baraboo, WI 53913 608-356-1001 Ross Milwaukee
I would like to check with someone on the correct address for the Sauk County Historical Society & Museum. I certainly would like to contact them for a list and ordering information of their Cemetery Books (11?). Barbara << The Sauk Co. Dick and Marilyn, I just read your mailing about JONES. I have Nettie (Annette) JONES married to Amos BAR(R)ON shortly after the Civil War. He was a vet. I am fairly new to genealogy and haven't documented them. I am currently working on their son, Amos William. Please contact me if you believe this to be the same Nettie JONES. I will be happy to share all I do have on their descendants. Susan
I have the book "Cemetery Inscriptions of Sauk County, Wisconsin (Volume 9)". I think that I may have found some of the children also. Located in Greenwood Cemetery are: "COURTIER: Henry Dec. 21, 1818 - 1891 Mary Ann (PRIEST) Sept. 26, 1824 - Sept. 25, 1893 - w/o Henry Courtier Elizabeth d. Mar. 11, 1869 - 49y - (stone buried in 1984)" I am including the ones listed below as they may be other descendants. "PRIEST: William (May 2) 1856 - (Mar. 8) 1931 - (mar. Frances Rebecca Holton who is buried in Block 6) PRIEST: Frances (HOLETON) May 30, 1862 - Feb. 16, 1908 - (w/o Wm. Priest who is buried in Block 5) CHALFANT: William H. d. Mar. 12, 1912 - 28y)" Note: The spelling of Holton and Holeton is not my typing error, this is how it appears in the book Hope this helps, Fawn ----- Original Message ----- From: jpriest <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 29, 2000 9:48 AM Subject: [WISAUK] QExpress for Sauk Co., Wisconsin ( PRIEST FORGUSON ) | | Surnames: PRIEST FORGUSON | Submitter: jpriest ([email protected]) | Date: 29 Sep 2000 | | Seeking any info re: James PRIEST b.
