Amyntus' daughter Mary Jane married Nathan LeSuer in WI, am also looking for anyone with more information on him. I have his Death record, as well as some others. Glad to share on any of these lines. 1. Methodist Episcopal Churches in Central WI
    2. Tom Wright
    3. To: Juneau, Sauk, Richland, Adams counties, WI; GenWisconsin; and Methodist Rootsweb mailing lists. If anyone has other ideas of places to check, I'd appreciate the feedback. I should be on all the mailing lists I'm sending this out to, but please reply-to-all in case I didn't get signed up correctly. ------------- I'm trying to track down information on a preacher, Reverand Lyman Jackson, Jr., who apparantly died in Baraboo, Sauk Co., WI, and was buried in Lindina, Juneau Co., WI. His death date was in 1879. Reportedly he and one of his brothers were Methodist Episcopal Pastors. I can't seem to find anything on this guy in Wisconsin aside from his headstone, so I'd like to check with churches in the area and see if there's any old records of their pastors. The last place I found him was in 1850 in PA, and he somehow made it into the Wright household there, the same Wright household that made it to Kildare Twp., Lyndon Station, Juneau co., WI as one of the early pioneers. So, can anyone forward me to Methodist Episcopal churches in the are that have a long history? I would assume original buildings are probably no longer used, but the congregation may have remained stable in another location over the time period. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom Wright

    3. We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We just posted a picture postcard of the SAUK County Farm in Reedsburg. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on WISCONSIN on the table of states. You will see the link to the photo just under another photo at the top of the page (with a yellow NEW arrow). (NOTE: If you have visited the site recently, you may have to click on REFRESH on your browser to see the new information.) There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) monthly newletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me ... please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    1. Lookup Request in WI: 1855-1879; JACKSON, Lyman; Central WI
    2. Tom Wright
    3. Looking for census info on Lyman Jackson, uncertain of his residence in WI, but his final resting place is in Juneau County. Land records show a Lyman Jackson with holdings in Richland and vernon counties (uncertain if it's him). I believe this to be Lyman Jackson Jr, born in Vermont 1790. LJ Sr. emigrated from Vermont to Otsego Cty, NY, to Erie Cty, PA. The PA arrival was 1805. He's buried with Pearl Jackson, but may be associated with a Phebe or Phebe Wright as well. He appears in the same household in Erie, PA in the 1850 Census along with a woman "Phebe" I believe to be my GGGMother. (That's what I'm trying to confirm). Along with "Phebe" we have William and Jane Wright, Hiram S Wright, and Alsinius. Death dates, from Lindina, WI: Evergreen Cemetary Jackson, Pearl Aug 11, 1888 Jackson, Rev. Lyman Jan 11, 1879 First guy on the War of 1812 list here on the Juneau Cty. Web page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wijuneau/Veterans.html If anyone can shed any light on this individual, I'd really appreciate it. Tom Wright

    1. Thomas family, Cassell's Prairie 1850-1900
    2. Carole Hammond
    3. Orison Thomas, wife Isabella P. Brown and stepson Philip Augustus Hooker (age 10) moved to Sauk Co. about 1850 and their farm was on Cassell's Prairie according to Gus's son Grant Thomas. Gus took his stepfather's name but was never legally adopted. Thomas and Isabella had two more sons...Robert Thomas, b. abt 1850, perhaps in Racine, WI, and Eugene F. Thomas, b. abt 1853. Eugene may be the man who married Augusta Caldwell in 1877. One or both of these young men later moved to California. I would really like to find out if their farmhouse is still standing after 150 years. I have a picture of it with a hill directly behind it. Is anyone else working on this family? 3. Hi Kathy, I am not being picky, but the correct spelling is interment. The reason I know is because when I used to take minutes for our township, I was corrected on that spelling! When you look it up it means "to bury". How is my genealogy finds going. Finding anything yummy for me? Marilyn

    3. Thanks! But honest.. It is www.interment.net Maybe someone set up the website originally and didn't know how to spell. I thought it was kinda weird but it is really interment. Pull it up!!! Great site, bad spelling! It you key in www.internment.net it puts you onto the site as well but changes your address to interment. So...good spellers as well as bad can get in. 1. Re: WISAUK-D Digest V01 #23
    2. Louise Leedy
    3. Margaret It is my understanding that many of the old histories of counties include biographies of people in the county who were willing to pay to have their names and biography included with the county history. Even though these biographies always painted a picture of the person as an upstanding citizen of the community no matter what kind of person they really were, they do contain some valuable information about the person and their family and are great for genealogical research. Usually county history books have no index or a sparse one and what genealogists need is an "every name" index, which would have every name mentioned. I found my 2 volumes of The Standard History of Sauk County, which was published in 1918, in an antique shop years ago. Hope this helps.
