    3. Surnames: STAMBAUGH BOWER STEEL SMITH Submitter: Gina B. (gina788@aol.com) Date: 07 Nov 1998 URL: <a href=http://members.xoom.com/zcats>http://members.xoom.com/zcats</a> I'm in search of any tidbit of info on these people and their situations. Martin BOWER, William and Mary STEEL. -- The 1850 census of Wisconsin, Sugar Creek, in Walworth County lists Martin BOWER, 25 (1825), with Mary BOWER, 19, a seven month old daughter, Doratha, and a man, William STEEL, 48, (possibly Mary's father). Martin was born in Pennsylvania, and Mary and William in New York. Doratha was born in Wisconsin. -- The 1860 census of Wisconsin, Bear Creek, Sauk County, lists Martin BOWER, 35, as a farm laborer, living with the Lorenz SMITH family. This census also shows him born in Pennsylvania. His age is difficult to read, could be 25, 28, 35. But he is alone, no information on Mary and Doratha. -- The 1860 census of Wisconsin, Washington, Sauk County, lists John(53) and Catherine(50) STAMBAUGH, born in Pennsylvania, and their children, George(14), Malinda(12), and Daniel(11), all three of them born in Ohio. They are listed as farmers. -- Martin and Malinda married 12-Apr-1865. Malinda's obituary says she married Martin Bower, then of Wisconsin, at the age of 16. About two years afterward they moved to the southern part of Iowa and then about 1875 moved to Hancock County. --thank you

    2. Cindy Johnson
    3. Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that I have added and updated some things on the ALHN WI site. The Gazetteer from 1853 is now available for viewing. The State topics page has been finished (for now!<G>), and the counties page also has been updated. There are still come counties without information so anything you can help out with would be great! Also for those of you who have home pages dedicated to Wisconsin, please submit your site through the form from the front page. Thank you! :) -- Cindy Johnson :0) ________________________________ My Wisconsin Family History Page http://www.ameritech.net/users/cindyjohnson1/Family_history.htm 10 descendant outline trees Message board GREAT Links page Genealogy Hompages Links Mystery Pictures Cemetery Inscriptions for WI. & IL ____________________________________________________ NEW SITE! 1. Annoucing the birth of a NEW site for Wisconsin only!
    2. Cindy Johnson
    3. Hi all! I have been working really hard to get most of this site done to show for everyone. The American Local History Network had asked me to be webmaster for their WISCONSIN site. This site is a work in progress that will compile historical as well as genealogical information. I have some very interesting documents that have been donated by some very generous people on the Wisconsin lists - thanks! The home page is done with a little information about the history of how and when the state came into control of the US. From there you can go to the individual counties listings that will show you what information is available for each county. Some counties do not have any information available for them yet, so if you have anything to donate that would be great. I will also be adding information from the 1853 U S Gazetteer for all to read - some very interesting information on that! There will also be a Wisconsin Topics page that will be categorized into topiv specific area of research and history AND of course, genealogy. There is a section for any of you who have Wisconsin sites to submit them to be on the page. Just make sure that you let me know the submition is for the ALHN site not my personal site. OK - that's all I am going to tell you. You can see for yourself what a 'trip' this site will be. Go to http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html and see what is there! You can also access this site through my links page on my personal home page My Wisconsin Family History Page. Hope to see you all there and hope that others can help make this site grow with information and resources! 3. Recommend you visit GenWeb's Juneau Co. site, our neighbors to the north at: http//www.rootsweb.com~wijuneau/ Jackie Hufschmid has done an excellent job building this site. There are census records and other miscellaneous data for Wonewoc and other townships on Sauk Co. border. Sure wish the Sauk Co. GenWeb coordinator could do something similar. 2. Cindy Johnson
    3. Hello again everyone! I have some very exciting news for all! I have been asked to take over the Wisconsin history/genealogy site on the American Local History Network ( http://www.rootsquest.com/~amhisnet/index.html )!!! I am sooo excited to have a new pet project in the makings. Right now there are just a few links and historical articles on the site. I would like to take the chance now to invite everyone that can to donate some piece of historical or genealogical information to the site. This is the first site on the internet to combine history and genealogy together. We do not want to take away from Rootsweb what makes it special. We are trying to add to the resources that are already available. Please take the time to stop by the site and give it the once over and tell me what you think. And also, please stick to the copyright laws - do not want to step on ANY toes! Let me know what you can donate to make the site as special as my Wisconsin Family History Page is.
