    1. [WISAUK-L] "Contracted date"
    2. LML
    3. Contracted date= marriage date or recorded date Thank you for your replies Pat and Bill. But now I am still confused! Haha. I think I have found that the later date should be the wedding date on this type of cert, since there are only 2 dates, but I am not certain. I have seen some with 3 dates, application date, marriage date, and the return and recorded date. It appears to me that the marriage date is the actual contract date, but any additional input would be appreciated. Maybe Kathy from Sauk Co Hist Society ? It would seem to me that the marriage Time might be important but not the time of when it is returned.? Thank you for your help. Murray in AZ

    1. [WISAUK-L] Marriage Certificate custom
    2. LML
    3. Hi, I have a marriage certificate that lists the following: License # ______ Date__ Nov 24, 1902 Time when marriage was "contracted"___Dec. 4, 1902 Then at the bottom, the clergyman signed it with a date of fourth day of December, AD 1902 stating it was a true return of the facts, which might indicate that this was afterwards, and could be a recorded date. My question is this. Which is the marriage date? Is the earlier date in Nov. when the License was applied for, and the later date being the actual marriage date? I am basing this on the premise that since there is a question of TIME, I am assuming that this would be the Time that the marriage was performed "contracted?" . Otherwise, what is this question of Time for? Following this, the question of place, county, etc the marriage was "contracted", leaving little doubt in my mind that the term "contracted" is herein used in the same manner as 'solemnized', but I would like to get this confirmed from someone please? Thank you, Murray in AZ

    3. I'm the person looking for Zangl or Zangle in Sauk County. Jeanne did give me some cemetery inscriptions and I am looking into those. My grandfather Johann Zangl was married in Wisconsin to Katherina ----something like Fischinger---and probably 3 of their children were born there 1875-1881. However, they all survived to settle in South Dakota so I know of no direct connections that died in Wisconsin. However, sometimes I have found things by looking at parallel lines--maybe this time also. The items that would help me the most would be Johann Zangl's marriage to Katherina, about 1874, and birth of children John Zangl in 1875, Robert Zangl in 1877, and Barbara Zangl in 1881.. Thanks for your interest. Neva

    3. Hi Joy, Just a note to say that I am researching the family of Salon and Lydia (Young) Page from NY to Sauk Co. to Spink Co., SD about 1880. Their children were: Hosea, Currier and Jane who married to a Gordon. At this point I can't connect to your page family, but one never knows when something may come up. Good luck with your search. 2. Neva Logan
    3. Surnames: ZANGL (ZANGLE) FISCHINGER (FISHINGER) Submitter: Neva Logan (nevaeva@c2on.net) Date: 17 Jun 1999 I see Zangl and Zangle all over Wisconsin but I get no response to my queries. My grandfather married my grandmother in Wisconsin, perhaps Sulk county, some of their children were born there. Grandfather was there for l0 years, then moved on to South Dakota where he settled. John (Johann) Zangl (Zangle) born February 16 1843 in Untergrafenried, Germany, came to the States about 1871, went to Wisconsin. Married Katherina Fischinger in Wisconsin. Children John, Robert and Barbara were probably born in Wisconsin. Probably settled in Sauk county, around Green Spring. They left for South Dakota in about 1881. I have ordered the 1880 census but it has not arrived yet. Any help from anyone? Thanks. Neva Jean Zangle Logan

    3. Hello fellow researchers and cousins, and genealogists, My cousin has written a book including 900 surnames dating back to c.1800 and the majority in Sauk Co. I thought I would post a few of the names here in case someone would like a copy. She is only charging for the printer's cost, and not her cost. There will be many photos, and I think well worth the price. The book will be back from the printer this month, and she will send them out postage paid at a price of $30.00. Following is just a few of the surnames included. Schaefer, Weyand, Mason, Sinda, Koeppel, Gordon, Hitchcock, Herrin, Anderson, Ahrens, Pate, Russel,Maggy, Shupe, Sherwood, Gamo, Antal, Williams, Brendle, Saeger, Maynes, Rozell, Wickman, Patten, Peterson, Gillum, Clinto, Sudderth, Larsen, Cahoon, Wizenick, Luebke, Hirschinger, Arndt, Denman, Carpenter, Schult, Petoski, Alberti, O'hearn, Wing, Fuchs, Fox, Drake, Meyer, Klagas, Diehl, Knuth, Gray, Rawson, Kleienert, Petzke, Lins, Esser, Ladd, Knuckles, Brewer, Baker, Garcia, Taylor, Merkel, Yurowski, Dickerson, Schumann, Scopp, Alt, Bethel, Lawler, Dietzman, Obright, Lindsay, Arendee, Summers, Botello, Hazard, Houston, Killian, Mckeoun, Best, Licht, Marazek, Kwiecinski, Haugen, Eiley, Ferron, Heller, McNamara, Austvolt, Howard, Geer, Chevier, King, Moe, Woolworth, Marble, Meyers, Groen, Bylsma, Baird, Gest, McDade, Schellel, Staffeld, Mathison, Severson, McDiarmid, Jackson, Polyak, Spent, Faiferlich, Parker, Wagner, Montieth, West, Claerbout, McDonnell, Krulish, Erickson, Drysdale, Burger, Anyone interested please contact me or her directly. Her Email is cschilder@juno.com or just mail your payment to her at: Catherine (Niemeyer) Schilder 1017 Pearl St. Box 8 Faulkton, SD 57438-0008 If she has many orders right away, it may change the price, as it is based on a certain number, but she has not figured her costs into it at all! It is a wonderful bargain, and should prove to be a great resource for many who are just beginning their research also. Some of the records in it include naturalization papers, German birth/death records, etc. Have a great day! Regards, Murray Looper descendant of Herman NIEMEYER and Agusta WIENKE

Murray, You can obtain census film at most public libraries through interlibrary loan. There may or may not be fees-- contact your library to find out how it works for you. The genealogical resources of the Mormon church, including census film, are also available locally at their family history centers (FHC). Check your phonebook for the nearest Mormon church (LDS) to find out where a FHC is near you. They're great resources for all sorts of things. Hope this helps, Kathy Lenerz
