    3. Hello, Mair Pointon came to Baraboo from England sometime around 1850. Would anyone have any information about the pottery built by his father, Philip Pointon? I know there is supposed to be a piece of pottery made by Philip Pointon's pottery at the historical society in Baraboo. I am wondering if there would be any additional information regarding other pieces or the pottery itself. Thanks - Barbara

    3. Hi, I am looking for information regarding any Moore families who lived in Sauk County in the mid-1800's. Nelson Moore served in the 6th Wisconsin in the Civil War; his information says he was from Ironton. Levi Moore lived in Baraboo, and Nelson doesn't seem to have been from Levi's family. Levi Moore had two sisters who also lived in Baraboo. Thanks, Barbara

    3. If the book was thin with a green cover, it was called The History of Churches in Sauk County Wisconsin featuring "Ghost Churches". It is not current but 23 years old. A good beginning reference. The historical society is in the very infant stages of forming a genealogical society and one of the things we are doing right now is forming a list of genealogical references in Sauk County which would include churches, who to contact, where records are and if they are available to the public. This information is NOT ready at this time so please, right now, don't ask! Stay tuned. When this (and more) information is ready, this site will probably be one of the first to know!!! 3. Jim, Thanks so much for your post. I am specifically interested in Gottfried's wife, Christina. In the WI 1860 census we find: Gottfried Kepler 43 M Stone Mason Germany Christina " 53 F " Martin Bosecker 22 M Carpenter " Elizabeth Bosecker 18 F Domestic " Lewis Kepler 16 M Day Laborer " Emil " 14 M " Edmund " 9 M " Louise " 6 F " Martin & Elizabeth Bosecker's mother's name was Christina. The age fits. Another researcher has just found a Sauk Co, WI marriage in 1855 for what may be Gottfried Kessler & Christina Bosecker: John G. Kerrbo (alias John Gottfried KESSLER) father: George W. 2. Eleanor J. Brotherton
    3. Hi, I am attempting to locate information on my ggg-grandparents, Zebina and Sally Bishop. They are listed on the 1850 census in Wisconsin in Baraboo, Sauk County. They were both born in Vermont, moved to New York in 1808 and show up on the 1810 and1820 census there. In 1830 and 1840 they seem to disappear, but then show up on the 1850 census in Wisconsin. Would someone have any census records for 1830, 1840 and 1860? I would be interested to know if they show up and if any other Bishops are listed with them or are located nearby. Zebina died in 1867 and is buried near Antwerp, NY, but there is no record of Sally's death or where she is buried. Her maiden name was Allen so that might be a name to look for also. Thank you for any help that you may provide. Eleanor Bishop Brotherton

    3. Dear Sauk County Researchers: At noon on July 30th, 2000, the Schneller clan will hold it's bi-annual reunion at Marion Park Shelter in Prairie du Sac, Sauk County, Wisconsin. All descendants of Peter Schneller (b. 1750) from Felsberg, Switzerland are invited to attend. The majority of these descendants are still residents of Sauk County, Wisconsin, where a group of immigrants settled in 1848. Some of the common surnames of descendants include Anderson, Beardsley, Bishop, Brandt, Chick, Clavadatscher, Cramer, Eastman, Gasner, Geddes, Hammond, Hansen, Hanson, Hinde, Hughes, Kindschi, Larson, Leisen, Lindemer, McEvoy, McKay, McLaughlin, Meyer, Miller, Neumayer, Norton, Nott, Olsen, Petersen, Patterson, Pickard, Pierce, Salsman, Scharf, Schini, Schmalz, Schmereim, Smaglik, Sprecher, St. Angelo, Stevens, Trueb, Van Vleet, Vose, Wason, Wing, Wyttenbach, Yerges, and York. Y., daughter of Leonard and Anne (Whitford) Sherman. Well, it is a good bet that the Leonard Sherman listed here is the father of Delia Ann Sherman Haskin. Delia is listed in the 1880 Antelope Co., NE census as being born in New York. I have been hoping that through the Sherman line I might be able to also find the Haskin line. Samuel Haskin, father of Edwin Haskin who married Delia Sherman, is listed in all census reports as also being born in New York. I have just not been able to find out where in New York to even begin searching for him. Possibly they all came from the same area. I want to thank you for sending me the website. I found a Sylanua Sherman listed. I am wondering if the Sylvans Sherman listed on the marriage info as a witness for Edwin and Delia might just be Sylvanua Sherman. Also, the S. Sherman with wife, Anne and children listed in the 1860 census in Woodland appears to be Sylvanua Sherman. Age is about right and so is the name of his wife. Samuel Haskin's children seem to have married in various towns in Sauk Co. Raviah Haskin married Frederick Rabuck in Marston (1859), Edwin Haskin married Delia Sherman in LaValle (1867) and Wallis Haskin married Mary Sophia Brandt in Ironton (1875). Samuel Haskin is in the 1860 and 1870 Sauk Co census but not the 1850. By 1880 Samuel, Edwin and Wallis are all in Antelope Co., NE. And as I said, from the writings of Edwin and Delia's daughter, Ann, some of the Sherman family must have also gone to Nebraska but I can't find anything on them yet. Raviah was deceased by this time having died in Ironton. Delia Sherman Haskin died in Antelope Co in 1887. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it. Dee Yeager
