    1. Re: [WISAUK] Yankee Street Cemetery
    2. Patti Gottschall Schuknecht
    3. Hi Joy - thanks for the quick & helpful response. I am mildly interested in all those names because they connect with other early families, but the main ones I am interested in in that cemetery are DREW KENT and TABOR. Some of the gravestones were almost illigible when I checked them years ago so I don't expect they have improved! [Also, I have Myrtle Cushing's cemetery books so I think I have all the available info of that sort.] My question, which is actually some one else's question, is 'who is in charge of the cemetery?'. I took this to mean 'who is the secretary or sexton?' Do you perchance have that information? Thank you again for writing. Patti PS - Were you related to Erna Kuhnau who passed away recently? She was a friend of my mother-in-law's & such a nice lady.

    2. Hello, Sorry I can't be of help on the Smith's, that cemetery book is out of print and I copied pages while I was in Sauk county in July but some how missed copying the page they are on, pg 56. There are no Rutherford, in Yankee Street, they are listed on my index on pg 76 and Smith on pg 79 which would be in Pioneer Cemetery in Sumpter twp. Joy

    2. Patti, Erna Kuhnau is she the wife of Henry Kuhnau? If so her husband, Henry is my 2nd cousin. I don't have any info on that family, and I didn't know that she had passed away. I only know of these families from researching my family. If you can give me some info on this family I would appreciated or an address that I might write her children for info on their family. The Kuhnau's married into my Hartmann families. Since you live in Lodi, which is in Columbus County, would you have any info on the Washington and Jane (O'dell) Fowler family? I live in Missouri and I also have some of the cemetery books but if I would need a lookup in the future from one of the others I don't have would you be willing? Thanks, Joy

    2. Hi Joy: Would it be possible for you to look in your index of Yankee Street Cemetery for Ezra Smith, b. 179?, d. after 1860 (name could also be Ozery Smith, or Othneil Smith); and Andrew S. Rutherford and his wife Rachel Fenner-Rutherford, dates unknown? Thank you very much! Regards, Louise Adams

    2. Patti, I have a copy of the cemetery listing if you need a lookup. I was at that cemetery earlier in July. I have several family members buried there. What surnames are you looking for? I'm looking for Page, Hartman, Kuhnau, Ploetz, Buelow, Lohr and several others. Joy Caraway

Here is where I hit my brick wall of over 8 years and still no luck. Anyone researching the Hodget/Hodgett family and the George F. Nelson Family in Sauk Coutny I would love to hear from you. Need the spouses of George and Sarah's 2 oldest daughters, Ann Nelson and Alice Nelson. Mt GGGrandmother was their 3rd daughter Josephine who married Edward Hodget. Edwards father was Andrew Hodget who died in 1862 in the Civil War. Any information on these families are greatly appreciated. Any cousin's out there? The families come from the Prättigau valley (Fideris, Jenaz, St. Antönien, Schuders, Schiers) in Graubünden. A number settled in Sauk County, Wisconsin, from the 1840s onwards. Some settled in Iowa. Others undoubtedly elsewhere. The URL is http://genforum.genealogy.com/tarnutzer/ Regards, Mike Hobart

    1. [WISAUK] Gottfried Kessler family of Sauk City
    2. Scott Edward Bosecker
    3. Joni, My interest in the Gottfried Kessler famiy of Sauk City is a result of a possible mid-life marriage between Gottfried Kessler & Christina Boßecker. It appears that Christina & Gottfried may have married in Sauk County in 1855. I was seeking Kessler researchers in Sauk County with the hope that: 1. They can confirm or deny the possible marriage (noted above) 2. They can tell me more about the Kessler family in Sauk County... perhaps give me insight into what churches might have been attended by the family... where the family tended to be buried... etc. This sort of information might lead me to a record that would either confirm or disprove the possible marriage.
