    1. [WISAUK] Kelly Brothers in Baraboo?
    2. Hi List, Just found out from Audrey at the historical society through an obit for my gg Grandfather, Fred Kelly, that he "was the last of the 7 Kelly brothers". Fred lived and died in Kendall, Monroe County for half his life the first half being spent in Baraboo, Sauk County. Does anyone know what the names of the other 6 "Kelly brothers" were or have any info on the parents-John and Jane (Barbara Jane)? The obit states he was survived by Step-brothers John, Arthur and Abe Sutcliffe. I've heard mention of that name during conversations with my family but nobody seemed to know the connection. It seems that John and Jane must have split and John remarried a woman named Sutcliffe (this must have been her second marriage too). I don't know her first name or anything else about her. Can anyone help?? Thanks, Sue

    1. [WISAUK] Sauk County Record of Deeds
    2. Kris Rein
    3. I was just at the Record of Deeds yesterday a little before 9:00 am so I could spend a good portion of the day looking at records before making my 3 hours trip back home. I signed in (in two places) and proceeded back to the research area about 9:00 am. I had printed out a copy of the message from schist@shopstop.net dated February 21, 2000 about the new policies guidelines for "on-site researching" effective March 1, 2000 so I felt I had the most up to date information about researching at the Sauk County Record of Deeds. Plus, I had been there researching in June 2000 and had no problem looking at records in the research area. So, I was very shocked when one of the employees came in and told me I should not be back in the research area and if I wanted to look at one of the books, they would get it for me but I would need to be out at the front counter area. IS THERE ANOTHER NEW POLICY ABOUT RESEARCHING at the Sauk County Record of Deeds? Would some one be able to attach a scanned copy of the official policy regarding "On-Site Researching" so I could keep it with me? The February 21, 2000 message I was referring to had points A-J under it. I thought I had saved it but I didn't. Any information about this would be appreciated. :-) Kris Rein

    3. Scott, Have you tried doing a search on rootsweb.com for the last name and esp. on the archives? I have Sauk Co. Darms and Trueb families, originally from Switzerland, that spread out after a few years. I found several references to siblings and others of unknown relationship that had migrated to MN, and SD that way. Through that search, I even found the indexes of a couple of county histories on the internet and was able to get a copy of the articles by Inter-library loan. Although they didn't apply to my direct line, they had informtion on the family, including dates of arrival, and, hopefully, help on finding descendents of those lines that might have more information. Darms is a fairly uncommon name so I was also able to search on google.com and come up with a some items on an uncle of my grandmother's who was into mining (the articles were not on a genealogy site but on a Nevada mining site). Good luck, -Sue > -----Original Message----- > From: Scott Edward Bosecker [mailto:sbosecker@mindspring.com] > Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2000 5:48 AM > To: WISAUK-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [WISAUK] Rinehard/Reinhart or similar sounding names; about > 1860 to before 1900 > > > I've been able to add a little more information to my original post (see > below) > > The 1860 Sauk County Census has the following: > > M653 #1429 Town of Greenfield Page 196 Dwelling 1663 > > A. 3. Patti, I have a call into a cemetery board member. She will let me know later. I'll e-mail you. A rule of thumb. When in need of a sexton's name, contact your local historical society as they might have lists already. If they don't and you must contact a cemetery and other possiblities fail, contact the local funeral home in the area of the cemetery. If there are still burials in the cemetery, the funeral home must be able to contact someone. But please, don't bother the funeral homes unless all other avenues fail. 3. Hi Patti, I noticed you are interested in TABOR'S? What are the first names and dates? Thanks, Sheryl I am mildly interested in all those names because they connect with other early families, but the main ones I am interested in in that cemetery are DREW KENT and TABOR. Some of the gravestones were almost illigible when I checked them years ago so I don't expect they have improved! [Also, I have Myrtle Cushing's cemetery books so I think I have all the available info of that sort.] My question, which is actually some one else's question, is 'who is in charge of the cemetery?'. I took this to mean 'who is the secretary or sexton?' Do you perchance have that information? Thank you again for writing. Patti PS - Were you related to Erna Kuhnau who passed away recently? She was a friend of my mother-in-law's & such a nice lady. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Apparently a few people on these mailing lists feel that offering a LEGITIMATE TOUR to NEW ENGLAND for the purposes of GENEALOGICAL & HISTORIC RESEARCH is Spam. Personally I have NEVER heard anything so ridiculous. If GENEALOGICAL & HISTORICAL RESEARCH is NOT the TRUE PURPOSE of these mailing list, then I am sorry we let everyone know this TOUR is available. I also am sorry to hear that the true purpose of these lists is idle chit chat about what family reunion is being held, who went to the dr. yesterday, who's Aunt Sadie just had a wart removed, & who retired from Military Service. ~~ Now, to those of you who TRULY enjoy GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH & HISTORY, & enjoy the idea of having a chance of walking on the same ground your ancestors once walked upon, who truly want a chance to do RESEARCH at the NATIONAL HISTORIC GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY & find the graves of their ancestors, I say this. Please contact us by phone or in an e-mail to us directly at: barroncogene@webtv.net This way we will NOT upset those very very few people who find this TOUR offensive & a huge waste of their gossip time. ~ To those of you who have already SIGNED UP for this TOUR, I say WELCOME ABOARD! ~ For those who want to know what this tour is about: http://www.homestead.com/BarronCountyGenealogical/BarronCoGeneNewEnglandTour.html ~ Thanks!
