In regard to the DAR scholarships. Even though I am from Richland County orginially I now live in Illinois. I belong to the DAR in Illinois and have had a state winner for the scholarship. The applicant does not have to do genealogy, have a long line of lineage or anything of the sort. My winner was from Romania and had been here about 6 years. You do have to contact the local DAR chapter for a sponsor, fill out the financial forms and work with the school guidance councilor. It is not difficult and there is money for all kinds of things.
