Gloria Mom says that Dad used to work at the Bohrmann meat packing plant. Neither my cousin in Richland county nor my mother could remember a Bohrmann creamery. both elm grove and pine grove dairies cut their prices by .03 a gallon to compete (mom says). three cents dosen't seem much to us today when milk is $3.00 a gallon or more but this was fifty years ago. I remember dad making $100.00 a week and he was doing real well then. Now it takes ten times that to do well. "those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end............" ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken & Gloria Olson (by way of Tim Stowell <tstowell@chattanooga.net>)" <kogoassc@elknet.net> To: <WIRICHLA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 04, 2001 7:01 AM Subject: [WIRICHLA] Bohmann Creamery > Does anyone out there remember a Bohmann Creamery in Richland Center? > I remember an Elm Grove Diary and I believe a Pine Grove Diary that > delivered milk to the door. > Frank Bohmann owned the meat packing plant in R.C. > in the 40's and 50's but I cannot recall a creamery. > Thanks, > Gloria > >
Hi Terry, My dad also worked at Bohmann's until Frank closed the doors in 1953.Dad worked there many years. He is passing 90 now but remembers all the old customers and little country stores he stopped delivering meat. The funny one is about the dogs waiting for the truck to roll in at his stops.Dad gave them the broken ends of the wieners.
