Let me try that again: List mode means you get a copy of each email posted to the list as an individual note. Digest mode means that a number of messages are combined and sent out at periodic intervals to people who are subscribed in that mode. The periodic level is determined by the list activity and/or the size of messages. If the digest size limit is reached first then a digest is put together by the server and sent out. If the time limit is reached first then a digest is put together by the server and sent out. Current limits are: 18 hours or 32K worth of messages. The plus side of Digest is that you get one email versus several individual pieces. The downside, at least for me, is that you get a big email and if you decide to reply to an individual message in the digest you end up having to either copy and paste a reply or chop out a big chunk of the digest message - plus you end up without a good subject line, unless you decide to change it. Current message size limit for an individual message to the list is 20K. As to the lateness of a reply, it's not. I recently found a message, an offer for contributing cemetery listings in another county that I'd received 50 weeks before. It got lost in my mailboxes and I stumbled across it. The good thing was that the gentleman and I corresponded and he and I are burning the wires sending/receiving and putting the cemeteries online. The downside for me is that my inbox has swelled, even with sorting to over 1 Gig of email and the last count some months back was over 200,000 emails, very easy to miss one individual email. Luckily though the spam is mostly filtered out now and I'm not receiving at the rate I used to. I'm down to only about 150 new messages a day.
