For whatever it is worth - I asked for information on an ancestor of mine about 6 weeks ago, and did not get an answer - yes or no......Do they reply even if they do not find anything on ones name of interest?....Phyl in Reno ----- Original Message ----- From: "Terry Bell" <terrybell@tds.net> To: <WIRICHLA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2001 9:28 PM Subject: Re: [WIRICHLA] FreeDar Lookups > Thanks Nancy > > My daughter was thinking of trying to get a dar scholarship for college but > that it would be too much trouble to do the tracing. In regard to the DAR scholarships. Even though I am from Richland County orginially I now live in Illinois. I belong to the DAR in Illinois and have had a state winner for the scholarship. The applicant does not have to do genealogy, have a long line of lineage or anything of the sort. My winner was from Romania and had been here about 6 years. You do have to contact the local DAR chapter for a sponsor, fill out the financial forms and work with the school guidance councilor. It is not difficult and there is money for all kinds of things. Some are renewable and are quite hefty. Thanks for listening. Gloria Perkins Flathom

Thanks for all of the information on Lone Rock and its location. The surname on this death certificate is Oakes; husband and wife were Joel M. and Emeline W. Does this help anyone? Linda
I am also looking for information on my grandparents, Andrew and Maggie Buckta, who lived in Lone Rock. The address of residence listed on Andrew's death certificate dated January 1930 only stated "Lone Rock, Wisconsin". In addition, has anyone heard of the Buckta's, Buchda's, Buchta's around Richland Center or La Crosse? My grandmother Maggie was a Gray, son of Frank and Fannie Gray. D. Weddle

Thank you Lori and Dave. I just visited Pleasant Hill cemetary on October 7th. Some of my Recob ancestors are there. I had one of those experiences where I entered the cemetary for the first time in my life and walked immediately to the right gravesite. Weird! I don't have much time for research and I am so appreciative of you and Dave and Tim. Thanks again, Pat Ambrose
