    3. Dennis... I've been having trouble all day trying to access this site. When I finally get it to load, I see 8 sections starting with Forest & ending in Willow but no side or bottom slidebar to see anything other than these 8 sections. Once I get that much to load, any other URLs that I connect to won't load either. Has anyone else had this problem? 3. Hi again, Sandy... Good news! I heard from Pastor Keith and he's going to take the photo himself and send it in digital format! Poor thing, he expressed embarrassment over the fact that no one had replied to my letter. What a gem this man must be! Thanks again for your offer and for providing me with the information I needed to contact him. Hope you hae a wonderful day... 3. Thank you so much for this information, Sandy. Before you go to the trouble of taking the photo yourself, let me contact Pastor Aurand via email and see if he can assist me or provide a contact person who may be at the church itself. If this doesn't work, then I'd be more than happy to reimburse you for whatever costs you incur to photograph this window. Thanks again... 3. Dear Linda, I do not know the mailing address for the Gotham Church, but their minister Pastor Keith Aurand gave a special service on September 9, at the Brown Church in Bear Valley. On the flyer for that day was his phone number and email address. He serves three churches, Wyoming Valley, Avoca and Gotham. His address is kaurand@mhtc.net. I have a copy of the church pictoral for the Gotham United Methodist Church from around 1970, on the first page is a history of the church and it mentions your ancestors and also the window. I think it is a fairly small congregation, and that may be the reason for the delay in your reply. If someone from there does not take a picture or send one, I would be willing to go there and take one with my camera for you. 3. Last year, a kind listmember provided me with a mailing address for the Gotham United Methodist Church. I sent a letter to the church requesting information and/or a photograph of a stained glass window that was dedicated to my ancestors, James & Permelia Bills. 3. Dear Everyone, For quite a time, I have subscribed to this list, having interest in Richland County, its pioneers & family. The farm we live in is in Section 5 of Marshall Twp. & was apparently the homestead of Archibald Wanless. The original log cabins sits here today, although in disrepair...and I know that the Wanless family name is prevalent in this area. (We consulted a log home expert last year & he marvelled at the construction techniques - Norweigan & very well-done, but he wanted about $30,000 to do the most fundamental repair work!) My curiosity was originally aroused when we purchased this farm, because instead of a more modern title, we were provided with a historical deed which listed all owners, liens, etc. since the land was originally deeded by the US. Quite interesting really. Once a condition of a mortgage was that 16 cows be maintained on the farm at all times! Anyway, I am trying to find out more about the residents that lived here. I do know that Archibald Wanless was the first town chairman of Marshall Township, but would like any detail that anyone might be able to provide. I did some research at the library, and found that he was married to Ruth Totten, had a number of children, etc. I am looking for specific details about their lives here or any little tidbits that may be out there. Thanks, Julie Marquardt

    3. The older records for many of the old, closed parishes for the Diocese of LaCrosse are held at the Diocese now-- addresses might be found at their website (I don't have the url handy, but I located it through a general search engine). I'm not sure if there is a fee schedule or recommended donation for this service or not. There is also an older book with the history of many small Catholic parishes of the nineteenth century called "The Catholic Church in Wisconsin". I think one may be at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin-- again, the card catalog is on the site. I had found detailed histories of the small parishes of Henrietta and Westford townships in this book. Another resource might be a larger parish. If the smaller parish of Boaz was a mission of another church, records or historical information might be found now at the larger church. For example, St. Pat's of Henrietta was a mission church of ST. Anthony's in Caz. It was closed in the 1960s and never put out a history book, directory, or remembrance type of book itself...so in the Centennial History for ST. Anthony's does include a detailed history of ST. Pat's and St. Bridget's, their two mission churches. Just some ideas. Good luck.
