Thanks for the verification, Tim. I received two copies of this message over the weekend and my intuition told me that something wasn't right. I went to Microsoft's site and couldn't find anything except the reminder that Microsoft NEVER attaches files to their updates. Glad I listened to my intuition! Would like to connect with family members who are decendents of the family line of Thomas and Catherine Nevel Knauss. Sincerely Sharon Brimhall.
Chapter 14 - Military Occupation - is now on-line for Crawford County. This is quite an interesting chapter regarding the history of Fort Crawford, some of the surrounding history and of persons who a few years later came to national importance. There is quite an amusing anecdote near the end of the chapter. Who Fort Crawford and subsequently Crawford County was named for is also included. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wicrawfo/history.htm Now off to the next chapter. Tim

Well, it appears that it has something to do with my Web browser. I'm using Netscape 4.78 and Dennis indicated that I would be needing a different version to view it. I'm sure it's a wonderful site. At 03:56 AM on 2/22/2002, this message was sent to the list: >...I have finished posting the plat maps for 1931 and 1936 to cover Akan, Buena Vista and Bloom townships. The other townships for these years should be online within the next week. Go to the address below, then select your township from the column on the left of the page. Enjoy! > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~djnsl/Homepage.html ... Whether or not you can see the contents of this web page may depend upon the web browser you are using. It lacks many required </TABLE> HTML commands, with the result that Netscape 4.x versions (e.g., 4.79) will not display anything except the background map. With my particular software installations, Netscape 6.2.1 and Internet Explorer 6.0 both tolerate the absence of these commands and display the intended data quite nicely. I assume the problem is caused by the HTML editor being used, not by anything the web page creator did himself (in other words, I've seen this problem numerous times before). Rollie
