Dombrowski, of 2700 Rainbow Drive, Plover, died early Sunday morning at the Portage County Health Care Center. He was 80. Ernest was born May 12, 1925, in Calumet City, Illinois. He was the son of the late Frank and Dora (Hintz) Dombrowski. He moved with his family to the Fancher area at the age of 1, to the Dombrowski homestead on Highland Road in Stockton. He attended St. Marys of Mt. Carmel Fancher Grade School. His marriage to Doris Buege took place June 18, 1952, at St. Marys of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. After their marriage, the couple lived in Arnott, later moving to Stevens Point and then living at their present address in Plover for the past 30 years. His wife, Doris, survives. Ernest worked for the Arnott cheese factory for many years, obtaining his cheese makers license in 1953. He most recently worked for PreWay in Wisconsin Rapids for more than 30 years retiring in 1986 due to his health. Ernest enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, gardening and taking care of his yard. In 1963 Ernest began "escorting" kids to hockey games throughout the state of Wisconsin, as hockey was one of his loves. In recent years he loved to attend his grandchildren sporting events. Ernest was a member of St. Bronislava Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Plover; sons, Richard (Diane) of Port Edwards, Tom of Plover, Gene (Gail) of Custer and Alan (Gwen) of Plover; daughters Diane (Mike) Ostrander, Baldwin, Sandy (Dave) Kratzke, Stevens Point, Clairene (Wayne) Peplinski, Custer; grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) Dombrowski, Danny, Marry and Robert Dombrowski, Troy, Kyle, Christine, David and Leah Dombrowksi and Steve and Jeni Ostrander, Nicholas and Luke Kratzke, Tyler, Ben and Sarah Peplinski; one great-granddaughter, Hanna Ostrander; and sisters Loraine Patoka, Milwaukee and Lillian (Richard) Laska, Bevent. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Theresa Patoka, Bridget Stuczynski and Janette Kedrowski; and one infant grandchild, Samantha Peplinski. A funeral mass will be held at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
