Mrs Scott was a native of Scotland and came to this county about seventeen years ago, a happy bride, since which time she has been a respected and honored resident of Plover. Her death came like a skock to the people, as few if any knew of her sickness. She had been ailing for a few days, but it was thought nothing serious, was the matter. Late Thurday night, she attempted to rise from bed, and fell dead into the arms of her husband. Dr Gregory was immediately summoned, but could render no assistance. He gave his opinion that death was instantaneous from apoplexy. No woman in the village would be more missed than the deceased, who was ever an enrgetic worker in every enterprise having for its object church or social improvement. Deceased leaves a large circle of relatives and firneds to mourn her death. +++++ On-line sources to check: Stevens Point Area Obituary Index http://library.uwsp.edu/depts/archives/obits/osearch.htm Cemetery records at: http://library.uwsp.edu/depts/archives/Cemetery/ Census records at: http://library.uwsp.edu/depts/archives/Census/ Portage County Historical Society http://www.pchswi.org/index.htm Portage County Courthouse: http://www.co.portage.wi.us/ UW-St Point Archives http://library.uwsp.edu/depts/gen/genealog.htm#ARCHIVES Where to write http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiportag/links/portadd.htm Recent obits can be obtained from WI Newpapers On-line - http://www.wisinfo.com/ I am not related to nor have any additional information on these surnames.
