CARRIE M. PITCHER Mrs. Carrie Metta Pitcher, 81, who made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Gurney, at 220 Potawatomi drive, died at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, following an illness that developed last November. She was bedfast the last three weeks. The body, now at the Charles Walley mortuary, will be sent to Stevens Point, Wis., at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, and burial will be in the cemetery at Plover, Wis., Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Pitcher was a member of the Plover chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Methodist Episcopal church at Plover. The daughter of Willam H. and Lydia ( Betterley ) Oles, Mrs. Pitcher was born Jan. 25, 1854, in Panama, N.Y. and at the age of four years was taken to Stevens Point by her parents. Her marriage to Anson Pitcher took place July 31, 1872, in Plover, where they lived until coming to Elkhart in 1923 to make their home with Mrs. Gurney. Mr. Pitcher died July 26, last. Surviving beside Mrs. Gurney are another daughter, Mrs. Laura W. Washburn of Portland; a son, Herman F. Pitcher of Stevens Point, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. ** Note** The daughter who lived in Portland OR, was Lillian or Mrs. Lyle W. Washburn, so either Laura was a mistake or she decided to go by Laura, rather than Lillian. This is the only time I seen it as Laura.
