Plover Times Friday Sept. 17, 1880 Mr. Robert Mains, step-father to Mr. James Scott, of this village, and who lately came from Glasgow, Scotland, while at work around the Machine Shop of the Wis. Cent. R.R. Co., had the misfortune about two weeks ago to have his leg badly crushed by a car wheel passing partially over it, died last Friday. His remains were brought to Plover, and funeral services held at the M.E. Church. He was buried in Plover Cemetery. ** nothing in previous issues or next two issues of Plover Times Stevens Point Weekly Journal Saturday, September 18,1880 On the 4th inst., we noticed an accident that had befallen Mr. Robert Means, an old gentleman employed in washing cars at the depot in this city. It will be remembered that a car wheel passed over one of his legs. For a time he seemed be doing well, but the wound took an unfavorable turn, and he died from the effects of the injury, last Friday. He was in the 64th year of his age. ** nothing in previous issues or next 2 issues. Paper had his last name as Means, there goof, not mine : )
