He was born Dec. 18, 1928, in the town of Alban, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Szymanski) Kranski. He was a Korean veteran, recipient of Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star and United Nations Service Medal for Meritorious Service, entering in February 1951 and released Feb. 20, 1958. Sylvester attended Lakeview and St. Adalbert's and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1947. For more than 35 years, he worked for the Kohl Corp. in Milwaukee, while self-educating himself at his home. He remained interested in inventing, improving all his life. He was a member of Polish Legion of American Veterans in Cudahy and also the Polish Legion of American Veterans, U.S.A., Greater Polonia Post No. 185. His name will be inscribed in the Plover memorial. He is survived by three sisters, Genevieve Jakubiak of Fond du Lac, Lorraine Fons of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Germaine Schoenhofen of Waupaca; a brother-in-law, Al Scherf of Milwaukee; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Donimic Kranski of West Bend. Also survived by 19 nieces and nephews including special niece, Kathleen Hurley of Milwaukee; and nephews, James Vanden Boom of Manitowoc, and Duane Kranski of Stevens Point. He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church in Cudahy.
