Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation is at the funeral chapel from 6pm Sunday until 1:50pm Tuesday. William John BADTEN was born in Rostock, Germany, on March 5th, 1883. The family came to the United States that same year and settled in WI. In 1887 they came to SD and settled in Garden Prairie Township near Verdon. He married Johanna KRUEGER at Groton on September 15, 1903. They farmed in the Groton community for 40 years. In 1943 they retired and moved to Aberdeen. Mr. BADTEN served as West Hanson Township clerk for many years. He is survived by his widow; one son, Albert, of Aberdeen; one granddaughter, Mrs Dwaine (Belva) SHILMAN, Ellendale, North Dakota; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest BADTEN, Ferney; and one sister, Mrs Etta HEMMANN, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. NOTE: This one MIGHT be a relative, perhaps an uncle of the William BADTEN of Portage Co Troop I??
