Last week the death of their oldest boy, a lad of nine years, was noticed in these columns, and again we are called upon to chronicle the taking off of two more of their children, all by scarlet fever, in its most virulent form. At about six o'clock on Sunday morning, Mary, a little girl 4 years of age, died after an illness of only forty-eight hours, and was buried in St. Stephen's cemetery at five o'clock that afternoon. In the afternoon, before the remains were removed from the house, her older brother, Jimmie, a boy of six years of age, was taken sick and died at about three o'clock the following morning, being sick less than fifteen hours. But one child remains, a little girl one year of age. At the same time, both the father and mother have been confined to their beds with sickness, the latter with the same disease, but both will recover. Who can tell the bitter anguish that dwells within the hearts of these afflicted parents--parents who loved their children dearly, and took pleasure in seeing them happy at all times. The sympathy of everyone, hollow and insufficient though it is, cannot but be extended to Mr and Mrs GLEASON. Link: Portage Co Gazette URL: <http://www.pcgazette.com/>
