She was born Oct. 2, 1911, in Plover, WI., to Alex and Pearl (Cielieski) Shulfer. She married Henry "Hank" Johansen on June 26, 1930, in Woodstock. On Oct. 16, 1976, she retired from Oak Manufacturing in Crystal Lake. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Woodstock. She was a member of the Woodstock Moose. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (James) Howden of Lanchester, PA.; four grandsons, David (Laura) Howden of Wilmington, DE., Daniel Howden of Lancaster, Aaron Golbeck of Browerville, MN and Richard (Ricky) Golbeck of Browerville; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Schaefer of Woodstock and Debra (Stephen) Springsteen of Manhiem, PA; two great-grandsons, Andrew Schaefer and Brandon Schaefer of Woodstock; three brothers, Henry Shulfer of Ridgefield, Stanley of NJ and Edwin of MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepmother, Francis Shulfer of Plover; her husband; a daughter, Shirley (Richard) Golbeck; and four sisters, Gertrude Ballad, Mary Beardsley, Bernard Shulfer and Helen Helm.
