Basically, anyone in America with this name is related. In Poland, the name is peculiar to Kashubia. But before the name appears in Poland, it appears in Slonim, Grodno district, Belarus. Slonim has been part of Russia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, and Ukraine. Goszko appears ONCE in the Belarusian Phonebook. Goszkowicz does not appear at all. I find the variation Goskowitz about 15 times in Germany. I am in process of contacting all, hopefully finding someone with more info on the family (perhaps a family bible) still living in Europe. The name is also JEWISH! even though the family is 97% Polish Catholic. I found one Lowa Goszkowicz, a carpenter living in Pruzany Ghetto, born in Slonim, son of Dawid Goszkowicz and Sonia Kuperfinig, arrested 31 January 1943 and arriving at Auschwitz 2 February 1943. The name is also spelled Grzengowicz, Gorzkowitz, Gorszskowicz (but these may be misspellings). He married EVA FRYDACH 18 November 1890 in Portage County, Wisconsin, daughter of JOSEPH FRYDACH and ELIZABETH PIECHOWSKI. She was born 24 February 1875 in Town of Sharon, Portage County, Wisconsin, and died 29 October 1937 in Town of Sharon, Portage County, Wisconsin. Albert is the son of JOHN GOSZKOWICZ, born 12 May 1830 in Gowidlino, Sierakowice, Prussia, Poland, and died 1912 in Prussia, Poland. He married JOSEPHINE MERONEK on 15 February 1858 in Gowidlino, Sierakowice, Prussia, Poland. She was born Abt. 1838 in Prussia, Poland, and died 1879 in Prussia, Poland. John is the son of JOHANN GORSZKOWICZ. He married HEDWIG RAMCZYK. Johann and Hedwig also had a daughter Josephine who married Michael Kotlowski. I am in touch with a member of this line.
