I have been unable to find my grandfather's family in the 1900 census. I'd really like to be able to find them in an 1890 census which, of course, does not exist, so I think that city directories might be my next best option. Any other suggestions? I know that they were in Seattle, Washington shortly after the turn of the century but, except for their eldest son, their children were all born in Wisconsin -- either Stevens Point or Ashland. The eldest was born in New York, which I believe was their point of entry into the country upon their arrival from Germany. According to a later census, my great-grandparents were originally from East Prussia. I am anxious to learn what you are able to find for them.
