This week it becomes our duty to record the death of N.F. Bliss, Esq., which event took place at his residence in this city on Thursday afternoon of this week, after an illness of two months. Mr.Bliss was born at Pownell, Vermont, June 5th, 1809, and consequently was at the time of his death in his 68th year of age. In 1836, he removed from Vermont to Natches, Mississippi, where he resided until 1846. In the latter year he removed to Stevens Point, of which place he has consequently been a resident for the last thirty years. During all of these years, Mr. Bliss had taken a more or less active part in the affairs of the town, city, and county, he having been repeatedly called to the various offices. He was the first Justice of the Peace the old town of Stevens Point ever had - an office to which he had been repeatedly elected since that time. The last office to which he was elected was that of Police! Justice, but which he resigned soon after the commencement of his fatal illness. Mr. Bliss was one of those men who could not help taking sides, in the most positive manner, either for or against all questions upon which the people were divided, but no matter how much some might have differed with him, he was a man whose strict integrity we never heard questioned. The deceased left property valued at about $20,000, all of which is disposed of by a will, made a few weeks ago. **courtesy posting only, no relation.
