He had been a resident at the Portage County Health Care Center for the past three years. Emil was born on Aug. 19,1918, in Stevens Point to Anton and Victoria (Cisewski) Pionek. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II which included Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Emil married the love of his life, Lorna Kawleski, on Sept.8, 1945. He worked for the Stevens Point Water Department and at the Whiting Plover Paper Mill until his retirement in 1981. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. He loved spending time with Lorna up at the"Shack" in Presque Isle where "Papa" taught the kids and grandkids how to fish. He especially loved Little Horsehead Lake and knew where the "Big Ones" were biting. He shot his last buck four years ago. Emil is survived by a son, Bernard (Shari) Pionek, Junction City; a daughter, Audrey (Del) Grimm, Wyocena; grandchildren, Michelle (David) Trowbridge, Madison, Michael Grimm, Boston, Matt Pionek, Stevens Point, Jeremy (Cerri) Golla, Milladore, Jessie (Andy) Becker, Almond; and great grandchildren, Lauren and Colin Trowbridge, Madison. He is further survived by brothers Edward, Andrew, Ronnie, and sisters Bernice (Joe) Mrozek, Adeline Liebe and Millie Hojnacki, all of Stevens Point. He also was blessed with many nieces, nephews and special friends. Emil was preceded in death by his wife Lorna in 1989, parents Anton and Victoria, brother Michael, Bernard, and John, and sister Genevieve. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Al Burkhardt officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Dzikoski/Pisarski Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time ofthe services Monday morning at the church. A general rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
