Furthest downriver and still in the county was the Meehan Brothers mill just down from the mouth of Mill Creek in Linwood. Starting in 1857, James and Patrick MEEHAN, Irish immigrants by way of Canada logging camps, used islands in the river to build a boom in which they held logs floated down Mill Creek prior to milling. The Green Bay and Western tracks ran on the other side of the river but the railroad built a spur down to the bank and the MEEHANS brought lumber across the river on a scow they built for the purpose. This laborious procedure came to a halt in 1884 when the MEEHAN's supply of logs ran out and they closed the mill. It doesn't look like Michael MEEHAN was in WI until about 1890. I did a search and found 61 Michael MEEHAN's in US Census... You might want to try to find when Michael immigrated to the USA and if he lived in any other state besides WI.
