Surnames: JENNER, SLUSSER Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DFC.2ACE/1789 Message Board Post: From the Stevens Point Daily Journal [Stevens Point, Portage Co., WI], Saturday June 8, 1901, Page 1 Lawrence V. SLUSSER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank SLUSSER of 176 Superior Avenue, died at 7 o'clock at St. Mary's hospital at Oshkosh as the result of strangulation brought on by a kernel of corn which became lodged in his windpipe a week before. At the autopsy it was found that the kernel did not reach the boy's lungs as he thought, but lodged in the trachea just below the vocal cords. The corn swelled to enormous size and this, with the inflammation, probably closed the windpipe. He has a severe paroxysm of coughing a little while before his death but recovered and walked across the floor not two minutes before he died. The body was brought home by his parents this morning. The funeral will be held from the Episcopal church Sunday, Dr. JENNER officiating. The little boy was four years old on Memorial Day.
