MACKOWIAK, 72, of 64 West Main St. died Monday in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness. He leaves his wife, Lorraine (MOCZADLO) MACKOWIAK; two sons, Daniel MACKOWIAK of Northboro and Richard MACKOWIAK of Eastford, CT; a daughter, Cynthia Pomeroy of Worcester; four grandsons and a granddaughter; aunts and uncles. Mr. and Mrs. MACKOWIAK celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on April 12. He was born in Webster, son of Martin and Helen (KAMINSKI) MACKOWIAK, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a World War II Navy veteran stationed as a radioman on the USS Maloy during the Normandy Invasion. Mr. MACKOWIAK was a supervisor of precision tools with Warner-Lambert in Southbridge for many years until retiring. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 184, the PAV and a former member of the Dudley Veterans. He was a director of the TSKK in Webster. He was an accomplished accordionist and popular band leader. His group, the Cavaliers, played Polish and American music in the Worcester area for over 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Andrew Bobola Church. A military funeral will be held Saturday from Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 53 West Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Webster.
