Buried with full military honors following a standing-room only funeral service at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. The 1,000 mourners who packed the church told only part of the story. Stevens Point football career with seven tackles four solo. But the former defensive back will be in the minds and hearts of the Pointers players and coaches throughout the 2005 season. UWSP football coach John Miech announced the team is dedicating the season to Mattek, who died from injuries sustained while fighting in Iraq. He came to England from Italy (he was in the Polish Free Army) towards the end of the war and I believe that this is when he changed his name from Burclaw to Burclaff. We believe he did this to 'Anglicize' his name so as to improve his employment prospects and acceptance into English society. I've just started using Family Tree Maker and hope to eventually share my family research. I hope this helps!

I am a descendant of Marianna "Mary" Stanislawski, born 1847 and immigrated in1872. She married Paul Prodzinski and later Joseph Bober. Although she lived in Poniatowski, most of her family lived in the Portage area.
