She was never brought to justice. On a farm outside of Chicago, she killed 49 people, including multiple husbands, ranch workers, and children who were put up with her thru adoption agencies. Most of the people died from poisoning, diagnosed as acute colitis, although many others met with freak accidents on the farm. Toward the end, she collaborated in an arson cover-up with one of the ranch workers who was also set up as the patsy while she faked her own death. His sons, Oscar and Mathew Budsburg, had no idea that their father had gone off to visit the widow Belle. A clipping from Seattle paper dated Jan 16, has been received, in which there appear's a full size cut of Mr and Mrs Alvin L Doenitz mad from a photograph evidently taken some time ago while they were enjoying camp life somewhere in the vicinity. The cut is published in connection with a short article on the death of Mrs Doenitz. Mr Doenitz committed suicide at Elliott station, near Renton, a village near Seattle, but owing to a rumor that the bullet wound in her head did not correspond to the size of the weapon she was alleged to have used, the funeral service was halted to permit an investigation by the deputy sheriff. The deputy reported that he learned from neighbors that Mrs Doenitz and her husband quarreled on the day she shot herself, because she had run a small grocery bill. As a culmination, he told her to leave and gave her the 50 cents to pay her car fare to Seattle. The nieghbors are reported to have said that Doenitz then left for Renton and got drunk. She returned that night, packed her trunk and stepped out, saying she was going to leave, but shot herself before she got off the porch. The report of the deputy shows conclusively that she came to her death by her own hand. Alvin Doenitz spent his boyhood in St Point and was at one time engaged with his father in running a beer agency here. He has been located in the west for several years, while his family now resides in Fond du Lac. Mr Omernik died in his home in Polonia between 7 and 8 o'clock Wednesday evening. Deceased was born in Russia - Poland and at the time of his death was in the 96 year of his age. He came to America in 1858 and after spending seven years in Canada came to this county and was one of the pioneer Polish settlers to establish a home in the town of Sharon. He settled on a farm north of Polonia but being a carpenter by trade, he built many of the houses in that town. For the last thirty years he had lived in comparative retirement with his wife, now aged 88, at their home at Polonia. He never used intoxicats or tobacco and until his fatal illness of about four weeks has always enjoyed good health. He is survived by his widow and eight children, as follows: Anthony Omernik, Gaslin, WI; Mrs Anthony Wojak, of Sharon; Mrs John Simonski, Stevens Point; Frank Omernik, Sharon; Nick Omernik, Custer; J J Omernik, Polonia; and Sister Antonia of Chicago and Sister Alozsia of Bronson, MI.
