Harding, Bay City, Wis., veteran of the Spanish American war and for a quarter of a century a pioneer mail carrier in Pierce county, died at a local hospital at 12:50 o'clock Sunday morning. Death was due to pneumonia, which he contracted nine days ago. He was born in Florence township, September 26, 1875. His wife Juliet Dot Harding, preceded him in death January 24, 1931. Mr. Harding had a host of friends, not only in Red Wing, but in Pierce county. As a rural mail carrier in Wisconsin, he acquired a large acquaintance. Surviving are seven children: Mrs. Albert Edmundson, Fort Atkinson, Wis.; Mrs. Arnold Bowen, Elmwood, Wis.; Mrs. Arnold Harding, Donavan Harding, Juliet and Jane Harding of Bay City; and Ralph Harding of Star Prairie. Two brothers, James of Bay City and Fay Harding of St. Paul; and a sister, Mrs. Frank Taylor; and nine grandchildren are also left to mourn his loss. Mr. Harding was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as a member of Company G, 13th Minnesota Volunteers, during the Spanish-American War. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the residence and later services will be conducted at the Bay City Methodist church by the Rev. J.W. Bostrom.
