A. Harding, aged 78 years and 4 months, May 14, 1895, at his home near Bay City, after a short illness. Mr. Harding came to the state in 1853, moving to St. Croix County a few years later. For a number of years, he has been a resident of this county. Funeral service will be held at the church tomorrow, May 16. from the Pierce County Herald, May 23, 1895 Died--Stephen A. Harding aged 78 years and 5 months. His remains were interred in Bay City Cemetery. from the Pierce County Herald, June 6, 1895 Obituary Stephen A. Harding, died May 14, 1895, aged 78 years and 5 months. He was born at Tunkhanock, Pa., the 18th day of December, 1816, and was married to Miss Sarah Dull, July 8, 1838. There were born to them two sons and a daughter, the daughter dying while young. The eldest son enlisted in the 96th Ill. Infantry and died while in service. Mr. Harding came to Wisconsin, in 1847, by way of the great lakes, there being no railroads at that time, and settled at Shelburg, Layfayette Co., in the year 1853. He came to Pierce county when it was almost a wilderness and settled on a farm near River Falls. In the year 1854 he and his wife were united with the Close Communion Baptist church at River Falls. His wife died Oct. 19, 1874. He has resided with his only son, U. S. Harding, of Bay City, for the past 29 years, fulfilling every duty of a christian life.
