Hello: The 3rd part of "Pierce County in the World War", with photos is now online at www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/wwi.htm The 1900 Federal Census has been ordered and should be scanned and online by the end of August (hopefully). Thanks to all who contributed! And, thanks to Elaine Ross, I figured another, less expensive way to do this, which I did not realize could be done, but, if it meets with approval, will be implemented for the next project, the 1870 Pierce County Federal Census, and other future census projects. What I is propose is this, rather than each donating $20.00 directly to SK and getting a copy of the CD (this places the total dollars needed for the 1870 Census at $260.00), we could, instead, place one order for the full census at a cost of $130.00. Each interested party would pledge however much money to the project they wished by contacting me with their name, email address and pledge amount. I would keep track of the running total. When it reached the $130.00, I would contact John Schunk at SK, have him order the CD and get the address to where each donator would need to send payment. You could then pay on line as before, or send in a check to SK, which ever you wished. The finished CD could then be donated to the UW-River Falls Area Research Center when I am finished making the every name index. This would perhaps aid their volunteer staff in researching for those who don't have Internet access. Does that make any sense? Questions?
