She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and has been a member of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church all of her life. She married Joe Johnson on November 23, 1904 and moved to Elmwood at that time. She has lived in Elmwood all these years. She was an active member of the Royal Neighbors and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also very active in the local Red Cross during the two World Wars. She received an award for this service. Three daughters were born in this marriage; Virginia Adele, dying in infancy in 1909, Dorothy Evelyn killed in an automobile accident in 1932 at 21 years of age, and Leone at home. She had four brothers and four sisters, four preceding her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George (Julia) Wild, Elmwood, Mrs. Herb (Viola) Schofield, Cameron, WI., and two brothers Arthur and Henry, Spring Valley. She lived at home until August 1979 when she entered the Heritage Home of Elmwood where she passed away Sunday morning May 18, 1980. Funeral was held at Spring Lake Lutheran Church Tuesday, May 20, 1980, Pastor James Gordon officiating. She was one of about twelve surviving members whose parents were Charter Members of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church in 1874.
