Johnson John P. Johnson was born to Peder and Anna Hovde Johnson in Foldalen, Norway, March 17, 1866. At the age of 17 he came to this country, settling on the farm his father had taken as a homestead. He worked in the woods during the winter and in summer did cement work in St. Paul. He married Miss Ragnhild Sather July 2, 1891. They moved to his father’s farm in Spring Lake, which has since been their home.Mr. Johnson has been in poor health for many years, but with the aid of his wife and others has managed to operate his farm until last spring, when he rented his farm and moved onto the Ben Erickson place. He died Wednesday, Dec. 18. Funeral was held from the Spring Lake Lutheran church Saturday, Dec. 21, Rev. Berven officiating. Special music was furnished by the Junior choir. Burial was made in Spring Lake Cemetery. Besides his wife, he is survived by two nieces and nephews, and a host of more distant relatives. Two half-sisters, Mrs. Ingeborg Hanson of Minneapolis and Mrs. John Blom of Los Angeles, preceded him in death. Mr. Johnson loved his home and was an upright, honest friend and neighbor, loved and respected by all who knew him. Contributed by Joe Waddell.
