Thanks to Darrow Wehrmann, a subscriber to this list, I am going to be able to begin work on the WWI section of this project. Darrow sent me his copy of the book "Pierce County in the World War", published in 1919. Not only does it contain the names of all the men who served with a short synopsis of their service, but it also contains photos of nearly every man in the book and info on the homefront efforts in the county, as well as photos of the people who served on the different councils and committees. Lots of familiar names in this one! This project will take a little time to put together. Lots of typing and scanning, but will be starting it very soon. Thanks again Darrow for this wonderful contribution. Will be returning the book to you as soon as I am finished. On another note, I have now finished the 1860 census index to accompany the census images donated by Nick Schommer and SK Publications. It is all online at www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/census.htm. We just keep growing. Hope to see more contributions to the 1900 census at the SK Publications site. We are up to 8 of the 24 needed donations. Hope we can get the rest soon.
