Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/PierceObits/10157 Surname: Johnson, Steihaug, Smith ------------------------- Spring Valley Sun, May 18, 1933 Haakon Johnson Haakon Johnson (Steihaug) was born to John and Ingeborg Steihaug April 2, 1868, in Elvedalen, Norway. He came to America in 1890, making his home with relatives in Spring Lake. A few years ago he returned to Norway with the intention of staying there, but after a couple of years he came back to the United States to spend the rest of his days with his relatives. About a year ago he became afflicted with heart trouble and although he sought medical relief, he grew gradually weaker. In February he went to Minneapolis to make his home with his sister, Mrs. Margit Smith, where he died May 14, 1933. In accord with his wish, the body was brought to Spring Lake for burial on Wednesday, May 17.  Funeral services were held at the Spring Lake church, at which Rev. W. L. Wang, of Minneapolis, spoke in English and Rev. Berven in Norwegian. Interment was made in the Spring Lake cemetery. Mr. Johnson is survived by three sisters - Catherine Steihaug, of Oslo, Norway, and Berit Steihaug and Mrs. Margit Smith both of Minneapolis. He also leaves two brothers - Ole Steihaug of Houston, Texas and Secundus Steihaug of Elvedalen, Norway. Contributed by Joe Waddell.
