Hello: I received notification of letters written by men of the 12th Wisconsin Infantry in the Civil War from Gretchen Levings. They were posted on a website run by Russell Scott regarding the 12th and with his permission were kindly re-presented on the Pierce County site. He not only gave me permission to repost the letters, but a couple of diaries as well marking this regiments march into Georgia. Although most of us will not be directly related to these men they make a fascinating read, a look into the daily life and concerns of men in the field during this war. I hope you will all take time to check them out at www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/civilwar.htm. You can find the links to each at the bottom of the page. This is also the month the 1900 Federal Census should be going online. Many thanks to those of you who donated to accomplish this! The 1870 census is still in need of pledges to get it online as well. We only need another $50.00 in donations, so if you can spare a few dollars for this, please contact me at mrsgrinnin@home.com. I would be happy to add your name and amount pledged to the list. I have also been posting the newspaper clippings donated by Reta Sanford regarding WWII servicemen to the Message boards. When that is done, I will place them in a text document, with the accompanying pictures on the Pierce County site. Thank you Reta for this wonderful contribution!
