Hi. I'm looking for information about Charles William (or Willard) CHAPMAN B. 1866 and D. 1951 and his wife, Phoebe Ann ALTON B. 6 Sep 1973 in Spring Valley, Pierce Co., WI and D. 1960. Both are buried in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Rock Elm, Pierce Co., WI by their twin boys who died in 1896 as infants. Phoebe is daughter of Samuel ALTON and Malissa BURNS. I don't know the parents of Charles CHAPMAN. Charles and Phoebe adopted Myrtle Marie B. 16 Feb. 1907 according to BURNS family records. I know no more about her. I've searched for obituaries of Charles and Phoebe in Pierce County without any luck. Where did they die? Does anyone have any more precise information or dates? I'm especially interested in Phoebe ALTON's line. Her father, Samuel, was married first to Elizabeth PAYNE in Waukesha Co., WI. She died in 1868. What happened to Eugenie, their daughter? She was listed with Samuel and his second wife in the 1870 census as being 9 years old. Then she disappears. Samuel ALTON md. second, Malissa BURNS Oct 1869, according to the 1870 census.
