On April 16th of the same year she was baptized in the Spring Lake Lutheran church by Rev. Paul Moen. The few years that little Carol was permitted to remain here in her earthly home she enjoyed the best of health and her sweet and cheerful disposition was a constant source of joy and happiness, not only to her parents, but also to her many friends and relatives. Suddenly and with almost no warning she was taken seriously ill with pneumonia and after a few days it became apparent that chances of her recovery were very slight. Although she suffered a great deal at times, she never complained with as much as a word. Friday evening, April 11, she died. Just a few minutes before she passed away she opened her eyes and stretched out her arms to her dear ones, as if to beckon them to her. Then quietly and peacefully, like a child going to sleep in its mothers arms, her spirit left the weary body and went to Him who has said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Berven, were held at the home and the Spring Lake Church Monday afternoon. Misses Jessie Gaarden and Lois OBrien sang a couple of duets at the home, accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Condit, and at the church special singing was furnished by the congregational choir. The body was laid to rest in the Spring Lake cemetery. Contributed by Joe Waddell Link: Pierce County WIGenWeb Project URL: <http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/>
