Wi Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/PierceObits/10082 Surname: Halverson, Radatz ------------------------- Spring Valley Sun, June 16, 1927 Toby Halverson Halvor Tobias Halverson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Halverson Aug. 1, 1884, in the town of Eau Galle, Dunn County. When less than 20 years old he enlisted in the U.S. Army; he was a corporal of Co. H, 21st U.S. Infantry, and was in service from May 19, 1904 to May 18, 1907. He was sent to Manila, where he was in action during the Philippine Insurrection. On his return he visited Japan, Guam Island and Hawaii. He received honorable discharge at Fort Logan, CO. Oct. 3, 1911 he married Louise Radatz, of Nelson: four sons were born to them Roy, Clinton, Clyde and Glen, the latter dying in early infancy while they resided at Spring. In the fall of 1916 he was elected sheriff of Pierce county and served one term. He had been in poor health for some time; during the last weeks he was confined in Asbury hospital in Minneapolis, which now belongs to the Government; he died June 4 from cancer of the stomach. The body was shipped to Spring Valley for burial; funeral was held from the Spring Lake church Tuesday, June 7, Rev. Berven officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Spring Lake cemetery. Besides his wife and three sons he is survived by his parents, six sisters and four brothers - Henrietta, Alfred, Norman, Thea, Fred, Mabel, Ida, Oscar, Ruth and Alma.
