He had battled cancer for the past months. Marlo was born December 26, 1929, the son of Wilhelm amd Katharina (Siegert) Hanson at Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed May 21, 1944 at the Salem English Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. As a young boy, he spent many summers with his grandparents at Spring Valley. Marlo attended Central High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1946. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota. He joined the ROTC at the University. He entered the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 30 years, having reached the rank of Captain. On March 22, 1958 Marlo married Betty Chyzewski at Winnipeg, Canada. He went back to the University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. He worked in private practice a few years. He served as Director of Real Estate Management for the State of Minnesota from 1971 until 1985. In 1985, Marlo moved to Florida as Project Coordinator for the Joe Robbie Stadium from beginning to end of the project. He retired in 1990 and Marlo and Betty lived at Fort Lauderdale before moving to Tampa 3 years ago. Education was very important to Marlo, evidenced by the three college degrees; his enjoyment of books and watching educational television programs. He was a craftsman and enjoyed restoring antiques and looking through swap shops. He loved fishing and traveling and one of his favorite hobbies was collecting cannons. He was also a long time member of the American Institute of Architects. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Betty of Tampa, three daughters; Sharon, Mrs. Tony Holt of Falls Church, VA; Janet Hanson of Tampa; and Natalie Hanson of Tampa; one step-grandson Tony Holt, Jr.; his mother-in-law Pearl Pless of Winnipeg, Canada; one sister Jean, Mrs. Mrs Douglas Swanson of Bloomington, MN, one brother-in-law Ed Conrad of Toronto, Canada; several other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held one hour prior to services which were held Wednesday, March 26, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley, WI. Rev. Keith Holste officiated the services. Burial was in Spring Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Bearers were Steven Swanson, Janet Hanson, Tony Holt, Ariel Ramirez, Al Winterberger, and Tim Butler.
